You’re Worth It: How to Make Time for What Matters (Even When Life Feels Full)

Life is busy—trust me, I get it. Between family, work, and the million other things that fill our days, it can feel impossible to carve out time for the things that truly light us up. But here’s something I’ve learned: making time for what matters is always worth it.

A Lesson from My Writing Journey

Recently, I attended my second writing conference. It was inspiring, energizing, and honestly, just what I needed to recharge my creative spirit. I connected with old friends, met a few online classmates in person for the first time, and even made some new connections.

But here’s the truth: attending wasn’t easy. My schedule was packed, and saying yes to the conference meant saying no to a few things at home. I missed some of my kids’ events, leaned heavily on my husband, and called in a favor from a dance mom friend.

Still, I’m so glad I went.

Why Making Time Matters

I’ve realized that if we don’t make time for the things we love, they’ll never happen. Whether it’s a creative pursuit, a new hobby, or simply taking a moment to breathe, these things are important—not just for us, but for everyone around us.

When we invest in ourselves, we grow. And that growth overflows into how we show up in our relationships, our work, and even our day-to-day lives.

Start Small: It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect

I know it’s tempting to wait until everything feels just right before starting something new. But here’s the thing: perfection isn’t the goal. Start small. Take one tiny step toward that thing that’s been on your heart.

Maybe it’s setting aside 15 minutes for a creative hobby, finally signing up for that class you’ve been eyeing, or even just giving yourself permission to rest. Whatever it is, it matters.

Find Your People

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember this: you don’t have to do it alone. Lean on your community—whether it’s a partner, a friend, or even an online group of like-minded people. Life wasn’t meant to be done solo, and a little support can go a long way.

A Reminder for Your Journey

I’ll leave you with this thought: “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Whatever’s tugging at your heart today, I hope this is the nudge you need to take that first step. You’re not alone, and I’m cheering you on every step of the way.

What’s Been on Your Heart?
I’d love to hear what you’ve been thinking about lately. Leave a comment or send me a message to share what small step you’re taking this week. Let’s encourage one another to keep moving forward!

Here’s me reading my picture book, Are Enchanted Forests Real? to my kids old preschool class. Full circle moment!

Follow your dreams mama, it can be done!
