Regroup

The morning is my favorite part of the day. When all is quiet and still. All that stands between me and the day that is coming is a hot cup of coffee and my thoughts.

Sinking into my comfy chair I decide to pick up my journal, poetic liturgy of sorts, or my computer to get my thoughts down. For whatever spills out spills out. It could be sorrow and grief or an entry of gratitude - whatever it is, it is me.

Layers and layers I peel off in the morning just to get to the core. And at the core I remember who I am, what truly matters and so I regroup to find some sort of peace to take into my day.

It is a gathering of all the fragments from yesterday and interpreting their effect, good bad or gray. And it is taking the pieces that stick out and make noise. Turning them over and over again until I understand how each one fits. Only then can I see the whole picture and thus take a step toward creating a new one.

The canvas that this day holds is empty but holds weight. It carries hope and busy and desire and work and chores and thoughts all mixed together in moments that make up a life.

If I capture my daybreak moment and meditate on things that are good, noble and worthy of thinking about; then I can move forward unhindered and a little more open. A daily regrouping is a labor worth doing, though it may not yield fruit you can see, it plants seeds for internal blooms. Fragrant and life-giving to the air that surrounds you.

Do you have a time of day you like to regroup?

A break at work, an afternoon tea or a walk after dinner…all moments we can take for ourselves that our minds need to wander. Without distraction we give our brain gifts that create space to heal, cultivate new ideas, feel grounded and connect to our dreams and hopes for the future.

Presents to ourselves, presents that we need.

Seasonal regrouping can also be helpful. With a new season comes change and often we find ourselves with an innate desire to refresh something - our home, our job, our hobbies, our relationships…reflection can be the catalyst for change.

What is this season calling to you?

Calling you out of… calling you into…or just calling you to observe.

Here’s to a bit of regrouping, wherever you find it. Wherever you need it. May it bless you and your very worthy heart.
